Achieve your dreams

Magic moments

You MUST track them. Write them down, take note, reflect, record, remember.

It might not feel like you’ve had any ‘magic’ moments this past week, but I guarantee if you take 5 minutes to ask the question, you’ll find some.

That unexpected moment with a stranger.

The smile from your friend.

That moment you cracked up laughing.

If you don’t track them you’ll definitely forget them. But the moment you’ve noted it and remembered it, your perception of your life begins to shift…

Suddenly you see it’s full of these little moments you love. And after all, a life well lived is nothing more that a collection of a million little moments you love.

Don’t short change yourself.

Record your magic moments.

It won’t always be that hard

Things that start off being difficult are usually things that are worth it in the long run.

Remembering that may help us to stick at it in the beginning.

Because it won’t always be that hard.

Do you remember something that’s easy to you know that once seemed impossible?

yeah, keep going.

Modelling

Someone somewhere has already done the thing you want to do.

Yeah, isn’t that cool?

So the hard part isn’t really finding out what to do- it’s having the discipline and persistence to do it too.

Way faster than you think

Ever notice how the tasks we think are going to take us a long time actually take no time at all.

It’ all the procrastinating that actually takes the time.

On the flip, the tasks that we think will be simple and quick often turn out to be more complex.

Either way, we’d do well to just get on with it I think 😉

How you think about it

We all know what we need to do to get what we want, more or less.

The trouble isn’t the recipe, it’s the implimentation.

Our focus then shouldn’t be on finding more recipes, but how to get ourselves to use that ones we have.

The trick is how you think about the thing you need to do.

You want to get fit, you know you need to get more daily steps in, but when you think about walking you think about dying trying to get up a steep hill.

If you can take the thing you want to do and think about it in a way that makes you excited to do it, that’s when life starts getting interesting.

Ai is the destroyer of limiting beliefs

Not only does it know a lot about how to do many things.

But it is relentlessly optimistic and flexible.

If something isn’t working it’ll give you 3 other options for what to do- with a smile.

Got something you want to achieve? Well, go give it a go.

It’s always a good idea

This morning I hummed and ahh’d about planning my day out.

“I’ll just get started now”

“By the time I plan it I could be well underway with what actually matters”

Let me tell you, it’s ALWAYS a good idea to plan your day.

Clarity of objective, intention and a scheduled time to complete it is unbeatable.

Short term verses long term planning

I had a fancy habit tracker that synced across my computer and my phone.

It had little emojis to represent each habit and a smart piece of code that showed me my progress with across the month.

It didn’t stick.

This week, I stuck half a refill page to the wall and listed my habits for the week. Beside each one was a space for each day of the week. As I did each habit I could colour in the square marking it done.

The refill page is nearly completely full- meaning I’ve done a week of near perfect habits.

I don’t think the secret is lower tech. I think it’s time horizon.

The first incarnation of my habit tracker I tried to create the ‘master document’, the be-all-and-end-all of habit lists. “These are the ones I’ll do for the WHOLE YEAR!”

The refill version is just this week.

The takeaway, I think is to shorten our time horizons. What are you doing just this week? And how can you track it?

Yes, we have to know what it’s in service of, the big goal.

But what makes it actually work is when we can simply do whats right in front of us.
