Your verb
What you do, you are.
What are the verbs you use most often?
To love, to honour, to perfect, to listen…
Choose wisely

Ever feel bored, useless, hopeless or aimless?
Yeah me too.
Here’s a new mantra I live by:
When in doubt, help.
There’s always someone to help,
Some situation to improve
or some value to give
I like the word holiday.
Labels are good, not only to retrospectively label an experience…
…but also to decide what an experience will be in advance.
You can call anything a holiday and it’ll feel a little different.
I’m away for exactly two nights, and I’ve decided it’s a holiday.
And it feels lovely.
You know the one.
The task that would actually only take 7 minutes and thirty seconds to do…
But you keep putting it off.
Here’s your chance to get it done.
They are the ones that matter, and we know this.
We know that great things come from culminative efforts.
We know that in order to eat an elephant you take one bite at a time.
We know that nothing great was built by changing everything at once and doing everything in one day (or even a week).
The truth (that we know) is that it’s the little things, done over and over again that get you there.
The choice, then, is to select the right little things to get you there.
Reading an inspirational quote each day mightn’t help you write your book…
…but writing a sentence each day might.
Choose the little thing and one day you’ll get the big thing.
I love Mondays.
They give you the weekly chance of renewal. Like a mini New Years Day each week.
And just like New Years Day, it’s just another day.
So, just like the 1st of January, Monday is just a symbol for beginning again…
And we can do that whenever we want.
It’s amazing how a change in lighting alone can transform the feeling of a room.
It can make you feel more productive, more focussed or more present…
And lighting is just one thing we can modify in our environment.
What does the environment most conducive of your best work look like? What does it sound like? What things are around?
The details of our environment affect us. And we have the ability to alter the details.
How good.
The scattergun approach is doing a lot of something in the hope that something will work.
The precise approach is to carefully consider and plan the action before execution.
Both have their place…
A broad approach when you need momentum, fast.
The precise approach when you know the mission and exactly what you need to bring to it.
The real skill is knowing which to use and when.
It amazes me how we can know something yet still not use it.
One of the simplest hacks for feeling great and getting the best out of ourselves is how we use our body.
I KNOW this.
If I am hunched over with a droopy face and dead eyes- I feel down.
If I’m upright, expressive in the face with a fire in my eyes- you know how I’m going to feel.
Yet I forget this on a weekly basis. I find myself feeling unproductive and lethargic and you bet my body matches that.
I also think this is okay.
Learning is only useful when you use it.
Every time you forget to use what you know theres an oppurtunity to begin again, and to put into action what you know.
Don’t lament that you forgot to do what you know.
Celebrate because you remembered that you forgot!
If you’re always doing things half pie to save yourself for the ‘important stuff’ you won’t be ready when the important stuff comes along.
How you do anything is how you do everything.
